If you’re interested in these ideas you may be interested in the person. Indeed all ideas proceed from people and all people proceed in some way from their experiences. Allow me to share a few of mine.

I remember sitting in the back of a car aged nine or ten and praying for wisdom. Seeking insight in life to make good decisions.

I remember a couple of years later collecting and creating pithy statements about life and how to live it well.

I remember often being overwhelmed by life’s struggles but then finding profound solace in some wisdom shared by another.

I have, without any obvious causation, clung to wisdom my whole life. Seeing it as some kind of essential, life saving thing.

My everyday consists of full time work with the emergency services, spending time with my wonderful wife of twelve years and our four beautiful children, and, when I can make the time for it, writing or being outdoors.

I’m 33 years old.

I am a stay at home mother of 4 children, ranging in age from 1-7 years old. We homeschool too. I have a love of homemaking, cooking, knitting, sewing, painting and gardening. I am strongly attracted the idea of homesteading but am yet to convince my long-suffering husband that it would be fun.

I spent my formative years reading classical literature and have subsequently spent my adult life putting into practise the ideas I read. I aim to be like Marmee with her infallible wisdom and patience, Jane Eyre with her strength, Lizzie Bennet with her sense of humour, Anne Shirley with her unfailing optimism and joie de vivre and Beth March with her sweetness and love of the home.

Perhaps one day I will get there.

I’m 32 years old.

The Kids

Rose is 7. She loves unicorns, can usually be found somewhere making or drawing something, and has the best sense of humour ever. She is a caring and kind older sister, and a born storyteller.

Malachi is 5. He loves ninjas, lego, dancing, and waistcoats. He gives amazing cuddles, and is already extremely good at climbing. He is a deep thinker and comes out with some hilarious questions and observations.

Koa is 4. He loves farts. He loves to wrestle (wretzle) and watch paw patrol. He is a fantastic climber and he has a very determined streak to his character. He is also very very funny.

Aurelia is 1. She wants to do everything her siblings are doing and is very capable already. She knows what she wants and when she wants it. She is a quick learner and she knows she’s hilarious.
